The Design Your Future summer overnight camps at Marywood University’s School of Architecture offers high school students a significant first experience in architectural design education. Students engage in the process of design to develop the basic tools to express their design imagination. Students experience architectural and interior architectural design as the combination of practical concerns and artistic freedom.
Students learn to integrate drawing and modeling techniques into conceptual design exercises. They are exposed to the unique blend of creative process, academic investigation and professional training that forms architectural education. They also explore the ideas, methods, and issues of architecture and interior architecture with professors and local practicing professionals. The introduction of architectural education prior to college is a wonderful career discovery opportunity!
High school students have the option to gain 3 hours of college credit for an additional fee of $635. (This does not include students that graduate from high school in Spring 2022.)
The program will be taught by Professor Stephen Garrison, a full-time faculty member in Marywood’s School of Architecture. Stephen will be joined by two upperclass students who serve as Teaching Assistants and as Resident Assistants in the dormitories.
To ensure the health, welfare and safety of the participants, this program will run in-person following CDC and PA Department of Education Guidelines.
